I want to use the new white balance feature but when I save out my CXR file the corona image editor is missing the new UI and the white balance options ?
Any ideas ?
-
Also the bake in feature crashes my max and the same thing happens to a friend of mine.
-
Just ran into the same issue.
You can bake in the Auto white balance in the Corona vfb within Max, but I'm finding hitting that Bake button is crashing Max.. for me anyway.

The CIE does not have the new features - however, the VFB2 can now to most of what the CIE can do, since you can now load in and work with CXRs without having to have the scene loaded and restart rendering. The one thing you can't do is batch script changes with the VFB 2.
On the crash, quick note, please don't have two unrelated and different issues in the same thread :) Makes it hard to respond to. And for a crash, we need more information, sent in via ticket at https://support.chaos.com/requests/new - what OS, what version of Max, the minidump in particular. https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4649117083409-How-to-report-issues-3ds-Max covers the info to add to your ticket. Thanks!

I have been trying to get the CXR render restart working I have to get all of the previous image settings right or it gives errors or crashes. Not really the work method I was after. Also If I load the CXR into history and start to edit the image the auto exposure and white balance don't function.
This is a mess and a lack of forward thinking.
I am not going to go through the ticket system I have done that before with bugs and its like pulling teeth.

I am not sure what you are doing, but it absolutely works when I load a CXR from 3 years ago - auto EV and White balance work as if it was a render
Resume render is tricky yes - it assumes that what you load as a starting point, is an actual copy of what you will be rendering. Anything else would not be supported, as it is a different thing to render.

That is still the best bet for getting an issue resolved. I am sorry if you have had not the most pleasant experience with ticketing system.

What would help the most would be for the CIE to reflect the latest features so as not to create a disconnected workflow.
-
That will be considered for the future, we'd like to do it for sure - but it is one of those big projects which makes scheduling it a bit trickier.
-
you have to do something, when I batch render I lose all the parameters!

Hi, I don't understand at this point the point of saving a file in cxr. in our workflow we always save the cxr to possibly recover exposure or exclude some lights, but if it is not possible to manage the new features then we cannot use them. I read about the option to open the cxr in the new VFB, but I don't find in the new VFB an option to open the cxr file later, am I doing something wrong?
Thank you

Howdy! Hopefully I can be of help :)
For the "use the new VFB as CXR" setup we'd recommend watching our official tutorial on the topic -
(already linked to the correct timestamp).
In short, you drag your CXR image into the VFB, you go under the History list and hit the pencil button. At that point you should be able to the usual CIE things to the image :)

thanks! i was missing the pencil part, maybe because it took a long time to load i didn't have immediate feedback from the click to the editor. thanks again,

Yas, the pencil part is pretty important in all of this :) Glad we were able to get to the bottom of this :)
