Chaos Corona for Cinema 4D => [C4D] I need help! => Topic started by: wolfgang holtzman on 2024-10-09, 18:38:05

I am trying to get the Standalone working and I've run into multiple issues:
I'm getting an error Chaos.Corona.Multipass.MaskTexMap.It has something to do with the multipass but this is pretty vague. I made sure all my multipass masks were as they should be but not sure what's up. Even if I put a blank one in, it errors. This is really maddening.
If I disable multipass masks it will render but some of my tree are missing leaves and the sun seems to be disabled? Imo, standalone really needs to be 1:1 with your 3D app output, like I thought the whole point is that you don't have to babysit it. If standalone is this unreliable I will have to really contemplate whether my short corona experiment will be a long term no-go.
Last question: does Corona standalone have operators or commands to modify render output or is it just the save file? I'm familiar with vray standalone, the corona version is new to me.

Why exactly do you need to use Corona Standalone?
-
When rendering animation I need it for consistency, and to save memory and time not having to start up cinema - you can read about it in the corona documentation. I've been using VRay standalone with vrscene and command line for a while and it's very convenient and reliable. I want to use Corona now because a lot of people seem to like it so I'm trying to sort out an animation pipeline.
Ill just submit a support ticket.

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, Corona Standalone may not support all of the features of the C4D / Max plugins. It is mainly intended for developers who would like to create their own plugins for other platforms. I am afraid rendering with Corona from the C4D level will be much more reliable.

I totally agree, CL/SA is way more efficient for rendering sequences and should ideally be in pair w/ plugin version.
Anyways, for starters it'd just be nice to know what C4D export limitations are, since none are mentioned on the site.

Same as for 3DSMax, I suppose... (?)
