Title: How to create this effect...

Hi everyone. I was wondering if there was an easy way to create the transitioning textures effect as seen in the attached video using Corona.

You can use the same technique but for texture.

Yea, I saw that tutorial. Its not really the same thing, but there are elements of it that are useful. Thanks.

Have you tried using Corona distance map to create mask using a 3d geo and simply animate that geometry to create a transition effect?

Depending on desired results, other approaches are rendering twice and doing the transition with masks in 2D in video editing (though tbh some of the refraction in the water drops here does look like it might be a transition done in 3D), or just to create an animated mask and use that on the materials (e.g. in a layer material). The animated mask could be something you pre-generate and use from an image sequence / video, or you could animate changes in say a Noise shader in the scene itself.
