Title: C12 Render Window
Post by: Otuama on 2024-07-24, 19:40:45
Hi all,

I'm not dissing C12 per se, I've only just installed it but these big bold buttons do take up more space than I'd like and reduces the amount of actual render area.

And I know the side bar can be turned on/off but that seems too wide too.

Also, you now can't press, hold & release the render button to choose if you want to IR etc

Just wondering other people's thoughts on the new UI

Can't seem to post images anymore so here's a link

Yes, totaly agree, new VFB looks odd, all the buttons pale, flat and unreadable now it is absolutely unclear am I rendering or not, strange spacing between text, plus sometimes mouse pointer turns into pan icon and it is impossible to change

Just for everyone's information - you can revert to the old VFB through Corona System Settings - https://docs.chaos.com/display/CRMAX/System+Tab#SystemTab-VFBSettings

No one is going to talk about the rotating smiley face that has been gone, and now I can't tell if my rendering is working on frozen!!

Not kept up with the forum and development lately, but I just updated and I'm in shock here!

The UI has less readability and functionality and it takes up more screen space. The tabs aren't evene tabs anymore, just floating text. This looks like it's a internal test version or something. I'd be all for an "expert mode kind of UI" but then buttons need to be like 12px high winamp style. Or maybe I got some weird scaling issue? The VFB top toolbar/gray area with icons is about as high as TWO toolbars in the 3dsMax UI.

If I had a bit more time I'd do some paintovers/mock-ups for how to improve this.

Do I have to restart Max for the VFB to change back to the old one, because just changing in system didn't work. I'll go back to 11 if this is the way it's going to be.

BTW, it doesn't feel great at all to be posting negative comments like this, but I'm really starting to worry about Corona development.

I'm finding the VFB in Corona 12 to be much slower as well.  Turning on and off the tone mapping stack takes longer than it should to register

Reset button should also work but if it does not, restarting it will definitely set your vfb to old vfb , if you have already done it in system tab.
