Hello everybody,
I started using corona few days ago and here's my first try an IKEA lamp (bare render with a little bit of contrast in PS). Corona seems to be very nice and easy in use, hope I'll be able to do something more soon :)
btw, I had no idea what is on about with my little pony and what it has to do with rendering but it's awesome ;D

Ponies are always awesome. Therefore, ponies make rendering awesome ;).
The lamp is also awesome, although the base needs smoother subdivision.
-
yea, I know about subdivision, it's wip yet ;) and I want to work on a lightning more, because fabric looks a little bit gray at the moment but it should be white.
-
Fabric deformation is modeled by hand or simulated? :)
-
it's simulated in Marvelous Designer, modelling it would be a torture ;)

I see... seems like MD got quite popular :)

Yes, indeed MD rules ... I've started discovering it a few days ago, and it's truely amazing. Not to forget that there's a second software, called Clo3D (made by the same Korean company), but really focused on character clothing ... MD is more for archviz people, who don't need to put clothes on characters. I'm pretty closed to a reseller here in France (doing teaching sessions for them on 3dsmax / VRay for example), and they told me many brands are switching to Clo3d for their creations (luxury brands, kids clothing brands ...). So Clo3d / Marvelous Designer definitely deserve being tested, depending on your needs ;)

I really like the lamp :)
Out of curiosity, it is hard to see but did u let it render for 12 hours?
And oh yeah i have been using MD also for all kinds of things already. From simple curtains and rugs to complete couches and beds or even a closed umbrella the other day. Iam very interested in hearing that clothing brands are starting to use it in their pipeline also :)
From what i get there is not much difference between clo3d and md other then that clo3d can load in (clothing) pattern files or am i missing something?
-
yea, MD rules (just as corona ;))
yep, I let it for 12 hours, but I think it was completely not necessary in such simple scene, I just let render during the night.
As for MD, it can be use by all kind of 3d artists, also by character modellers, Clo has only few features more that are helpful when you are going to physically sew clothes.
Btw I know there is an Octane plugin for Clo3d, maybe there is a chance for Corona plugin for MD, dear Administrator? :D It might be a nice niche, in my opinion, because I see there is a lot of people who can create nice clothes but are not able to render it well in some external softwares and corona is very simple in use and userfriendly :)
-
Yeah i sometimes go through their gallery and see a lot of images made from within MD that could look way better :)
But then again they might not care as much about realism and more about the actual designs of the clothing.
Nonetheless a better and easy renderer for MD would be nice. But I don't know what the MD team is busy with behind the screens already, has been some time since their latest update.
-
lamp update, I hope lightning looks better now. I'm attaching the hi-res. Time was much shorter than before ;)
-
Even 2:30 seems a bit excessive for such a simple shot i think... might be due to a lot of materials with opacity...
OR... you are still sleeping too long... 1 hour naps should do ;)
-
update after a small break, tweaks in the newest corona, I am not sure is it final, but probably yes ;)
-
Nice. Some areas of this "net" look a bit strange - sharp, aliased edges. I don't know if it's due to opacity map file, dof, or maybe post?
btw, saw this lamp in IKEA some time ago, looks almost as realistic as yours ;)
