Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: ishikawa on 2023-09-11, 11:16:37

I would like to ask for help.
This is a symptom of an error that occurred on the third day after upgrading to Corona10.
I am creating a material that looks like wet glass.
When using coronaselectMtl, changing the select will not be reflected in the rendering.
If this error occurs, adapting another material will not fix it.
Restarting the PC and 3dsmax did not help.

Hi,
The issue is not quite clear. Can you please upload a video screen recording to understand it better?
You can also send a simple scene where the issue is present and share some simple repro steps.

Sorry, I didn't know how to upload the image.
Can you confirm this?

You can attach by clicking on "Attachments and other options" and then "Browse". Then pick the image - you can only pick one image per attachment.
For more attachments, click on "more attachments" under "Browse".
I know this is not ideal but it has been working (fine) for a long time :)

Thank you for your explanation.
Can you check it here?

Unfortunately the detail in those images are too small to see (at least for me) so I am still not clear what is going on. Can you post each of the four shots separately so that they are full size? Or post the one shot full size even if that means scrolling around to view it?
My only thought for now is, if you ignore the select material and do the steps - apply material 1 to the object, render, apply material 2 to the object, render, are the two renders different? Can you share those two renders? I am wondering if it so happens that both materials are rendering the same so no matter which you select the results are the same :) This is mostly because I can't see what the node is that is combining the two materials in the second case before it goes into the select material. Thanks!

Thank you for your reply.
・When applying material 1
・When adapting the material of 2
・When adapting a completely different material
All of these rendering results are for Material 1.

Can you please attach the scene so I can have a look?
If you are correctly applying grey material to the glass object, there is no way that it should not look grey.
The same for the glass. I think you are just a bit confused with the multi/sub-object material, CoronaSelectMtl and probably also the polygon IDs of the object.

Thank you everybody.
It doesn't solve the problem, but I found the cause.
It seems that an error occurs when installing the latest Forest Pack.

Forest pack should have nothing to do with the material preview and setup.
Nevertheless, if the issue is solved for you, and you don't need further assistance, happy rendering with Corona!
I have just checked a setup similar to yours and everything was working as expected (I thought maybe there is an issue with CoronaSelectMtl and Multi/Sub-object, but everything worked fine).

It seems like I'm the only one having this problem at my company.
I understand that Forest Pack has nothing to do with that. I also know that there are no problems with the material or rendering settings. However, it actually has a negative effect on rendering. No one knows the solution.
The only way is to uninstall Forest Pack and create it.

Might be useful to upload the scene in case the problem is reproducible. If there is compatibility issue with third-party plugin, especially as important as FP, devs would likely want to look at it. You can upload the scene here: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new just don't forget to mention that you're coming from this forum topic.
