I work in product viz and we have a lot of decals we place on certain products. Everything from logos to labels. I have 14 on the one I'm working on now. Our method of working is to put an alpha map of the decal in the opacity slot of a material and use "From material" on the Corona Decal.
We have to render these products twice. One with the decals on and one with them off. What I have been noticing is that when I turn the decal layers on, the lighting changes, usually it will brighten the scene.
Has this happened with anyone else? We are using Corona 8 at the moment. I would like to post a scene or screenshots for reference, but unfortunately I can't (NDA)
Thanks for feedback and or help.

Depending on the size and colour of decals they might quite significantly affect scene lighting, so some difference might be expected. It's hard to say something more specific without seeing examples.

I remodeled the product with with just boxes and cylinders and was able to recreate the problem. Notice when I turn the decals off how much brighter the light in front got.
-
Wild guess - is it possible that one or few decal objects are intersecting with some of the scene lights? Maybe you can attach this simplified scene to the forum, or send it to Corona support team through support ticket, so someone could take a look at it. https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Lights are no where near the any objects. I submitted a ticket. Whatever the outcome, Ill post back what it is, incase anyone else has the same issue.

So after a lot of back and forth with Chaos. This as they said is a known issue and have no idea when it will be fixed.

Not sure what that means.

It's our link to our internal tracking of the issue, so we can easily jump to it from this thread (and vice versa).
