We are getting a very ugly dark spot where the sun highlight should bo on objects, if we are looking through a plane in between the sun and camera, like a background landscape card.

simple 3dsmax 2021 scene:

It's happening with both background HDR or CoronaSun.
Your workaround from:
https://download.mediaprojekt.eu/index.php/s/ikGmyD66R39ezNx/preview
doesn't work here because we want to see the blue environment card in camera and reflections.

Unfortunately, this is a case Corona currently does not handle well. It's listed as one of the known limitations at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4528311915025-Known-bugs-and-limitations
Could you please explain why you are setting up your scene like that? What is the purpose of the blue plane? Perhaps once we know that, we will be able to offer some other solution.
