Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: MichalsAvatar on 2023-04-16, 15:53:00

Hello all,
Can anyone suggest a way to make the underside of leaves in my scene brighter?
The top side of the leaves are fine, but the underside is just too dark. I usually fix this by brightening up the darker underside areas
in post production, but it would be great to solve it directly in 3ds max Corana 9. Is there a double sided texture I can apply?
So that I can apply a corona colour correction to the top side of the leaves and a separate (brighter) corona colour correction to the underside?
Any thoughts would be very much appreciate.

Thank you.

Corona has FrontBack map, which you can use to assign different textures for front and back facing polygons. Alternatively you could give some translucency to your leaves material, so the light would propagate through leaves and naturally brighten shadowed areas, like it's happening in nature.

Excellent. Thank you for your advice.
However, my translucency fraction slider is greyed out so I cant access it. Please let me know how to activate it.

Assuming that you're using Corona physical material, you need to activate thin shell option in order to enable translucency. It is done this way to prevent non physical material setups.

Excellent.
Thank you so much.
