Title: Corona Sky and Sun, by default
Post by: _fosafosa on 2022-09-29, 11:05:00
Corona Sun and Sky

Did something changed in version 8?

Now default sun and sky need exposure -2.5 + some hard highlight compression,
other than that sky is slightly pink and everything gets pink vibe...

Or is it me?

Default Corona sky model has indeed changed, but in V6, not in V8. The old model was slightly greenish, now it has more accurate colours. Regarding exposure, it should be about the same as in older versions, specific EV value might be different depending on the scene and tone mapping settings, but it should not change from one Corona version to another.

I don't think anything was changed here. The Sun+Sky always needed exposure between -3 and -4 (when not using any highlight compression) in outdoor scenes. Maybe you were used to interior scenes, where exposure close to the value of 0 would work better?
You can also enable the ACES OT operator as it makes the image bit darker and recovers highlights.
