Title: How to add leaks / grunge textures to walls
Post by: eschac on 2022-06-21, 22:39:07
I'm wondering how to add leaks or grunge textures on top of a wall material such as concrete, to achieve a worn look-- attaching a few images for reference. Any help appreciated!

This is a perfect use case for Decals.

PS
I am looking forward to Decals being added in the Cosmos browser.

I was playing with decals and it does work nicely, but only if I need it on one face. If I want to create a projection to wrap around all 4 sides of a box for example, would I just have to create 4 seperate decal objects?

Yes.

Or you could just use the good old overlay texture to your base texture (either by material stacking or by a layered material).

That makes sense, thanks a lot for the example file!

You can also do it procedurally with textured AO - https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4528463913105-Corona-AO-Shader-C4D
and possibly with the v8 curvature map - https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4954258906385-Corona-Curvature-Shader-C4D

Hope that helps! :)

Just for fun: There's always the Distance shader, too, Corona's universal weapon ;)
