Maybe something to consider is that then there's no need for cables, since every apparatus simply gets a "receiver". "Inner" mechanics (for distributing DC current on micro scale) remain mostly unchanged. In principle it's  like applying  induction for wireless charging. Also, it would become possible to charge parts of ionosphere thus creating "auroras" as need be. ;)

Its pre build concept art, Eventually those wires will be taken off when this becomes reality.
