Title: Stupid question on IES and LUT files
Post by: andeltoz on 2022-01-31, 19:00:25
Stupid question:
In which folder are IES and LUT files installed on OSX?
I know it's a stupid question but I can't find them.
Thank you

In windows you can find it in Render Setup > Camera > LUT (see attached screenshot)

I've always seen people mentions about IES files that come with Corona, but have never seen them anywhere. The folder that Philw posted only has a few .txt files. What am I missing?

token-c4d-stable.txt
LicensingLog.txt
MaterialLibrary
MaterialUsageCounts.txt
request-c4d-commercial.txt
request-c4d-stable.txt
telemetry.plist
token-c4d-commercial.txt

There is none of that in the folder you indicated

@BigAl3D
You are looking in the wrong library... See screenshot.

Ah, you are correct. I looked in the double-secret Library. I was expecting to see a lot more IES file in there to be honest considering all the other assets they provide.

These are just a sample to get people started - usually with IES you are actually after an exact profile that matches an exact light fitting, and those are generally available from the manufacturer of the fitting (for free, on the web). So no sense providing too many inbuilt examples as the one you are looking for will inevitably not be in there ;)

@TomG Yeah I hear ya. In the past, I've tried to find IES files for specific type of lights, but never had any success. Maybe I'll try again.

Hi everyone,
if you're looking for IES files, try this website. https://ieslibrary.com/en/home. I used some ERCO IES lately, they work perfectly.

Holy smokes that looks amazing! A searchable database with manufacturers and functions. Very useful indeed. Thanks for sharing that link. I just sent him a message to see if he can also include automotive bulbs/fixtures since some of the existing companies he already has also make bulbs for cars and trucks.
