Title: Grouping lights
Post by: ianosss on 2021-12-12, 16:39:03
Hi. I've set up a scene with multipass so that my lights are in folders as there will be a lot of lights in the scene. Is there any way to have the lights in folders in the Corona VFB window also?

Hello,

it is possible, if you group them in the object manager (e.g. under a Null Object), and then in multi-pass, select Setup interactive LightMix. Inside there, choose Grouped option and press Generate.
That will create 1 LightMix for each group of lights.

Thanks,
Jan

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the reply.

I can group the lights ok, but I was wondering if I can put them in folders also? If you look at the screen shot I have put them in a folder for the sky and a folder for kitchen lights in the Corona Multi-pass. Is it possible to show the same folder structure in the Corona VFB? Just trying to organise the lights as there will be lots. :)

You can also add more lights to a single LightSelect pass, but I'm afraid changing group's properties and individual light's properties at the same time is not possible (e.g. toggle on all and disable one child in the tree-view)

I can list this as a feature request, as it might be pretty handy.

Thanks,
Jan

Yes that would be great to list this as a feature request thanks.

I have attached an image of how I was thinking it would look. Would be great if it brought the folder structure from the multipass menu into the Corona VFB and also would be great if the icons were colour coded too! :)
