Title: Bloom & Glare - Export Custom Aperture
Post by: cjwidd on 2021-01-29, 05:56:08
It would be nice to be able to export (.EXR) a custom bloom aperture, now that the bloom kernel is fully customizable.

What do you mean by custom aperture? Do you mean setting up your bloom and glare in the VFB and being able to save a black and white image of the shape of the aperture?

Yes, that sounds right. For example, UE4 uses a default kernel image (https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/RenderingAndGraphics/PostProcessEffects/Bloom/index.html) for convolution bloom effects. I was thinking if Corona Renderer uses an image-based solution for custom bloom via the custom aperture editor, maybe it would be possible to save out the custom aperture into a .BMP or .EXR for use in other renderers, e.g. Unreal Engine.

Hi,

You can simply use Bloom and Glare pass with Bloom set to zero so you get only the glare on the black background.

Here is a example in this video : https://bit.ly/3zMRR8a

I hope this helps.
