Title: Render time is too high
Post by: PSalem on 2020-12-23, 07:37:21
Hello Guys,

I am fairly new to Corona Renderer and I am having troubles with rendering times. I am told that a scene should take about an hour or so to be done, but most of my scenes take about 5 or more hours.

Now I am rendering a 1920x1080px scene with noise level limit 4%, this is taking like 5/6 hours. I can't pinpoint the problem. Can someone please help me out?

I have attached an image with the scene being rendered.

Hi,

Do you have caustics enabled? As caustics can increase the render time so they should only be used when they are needed..

Cheers,

Rowan

Your UHD success rate is actually ok, you might want to check if there is a lot of anisotropy on your materials and how exactly you are lighting your scene. Are you using any light-emitting light materials or any materials with self-illumination?

Please feel free to submit a ticket and upload your scene through our private upload, so that we can provide some feedback: https://corona-renderer.com/upload

Thanks,

What are your PC specs? Performance stats shows good (low) rays/sample number, so it's likely that there's no big issues with your scene. It might be that your machine just isn't fast enough.

Intel® Core™ i7-6700 Processor
32GB RAM
Nividia GTX 1060 6GB

i think these are okay specs for corona

Hi again, thank you for providing us with the scene.

Some things first, please run your scene with Autodesk's security tools for 3ds max: https://apps.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/en/Detail/Index?id=7342616782204846316&appLang=en&os=Win64, or alternatively use Prune scene to clean your scene from alc3 worm/virus.

To improve your render times further I would suggest you revert your GIvsAA to 16, convert all v-ray materials to Corona, brighten your interior from external GI. Lastly, Romullus is correct in his assumption, your current CPU is 4core/8thread I am afraid it's not ideal for rendering complex interior scenes. The same scene on a 12core/24thread AMD CPU takes 18min. to finish render in 1080p 4% noise limit.

I hope this helps.
