Just want to make sure before updating. I am not talking ARM. Just the regular OS X update for Intel Macs.
-
Not for me. I've issues. Just updated to Big Sur. Cinema 4D R21 don't boot. I've tried Stable release and daily builds. I'm sending a mail to support right now.
-
Glad to here from you. Was just about to hit that upgrade now button. I also on R21. Look forward to hearing any updates regarding this.

Hi, I've just opened a ticket, let me know an email address if you want to be added into ticket conversation to know updates...
-
I think Maxon are only making R23 compatible with Big Sur
(which does seem crazy!)
-
Nope, it work fine (R21) if corona plugin is removed. Almost any app compatible with Catalina still working in Big Sur.
-
Can anyone confirm that/if at least Corona will work with R23+Big Sur?
...or is Corona+Big Sur a no go for now?
-
I have responded to your ticket but will repeat it here for others. At present, it's not supported and we are aware of the issue. We will continue to look into it and provide updates when they come to hand.

Hi just tried installing trials of R23 and Corona hotfix 1 on a secondary machine running Big Sur. Everything seems to work fine.
My C4D license is R21, but I don't mind updating. Can you please confirm for me if I am correct that there is only compatibility issues with Corona and R21 under Big Sur – not when using R23?
-
Same here. Tried 6 Hotfix 1 and R21 and R23 both crash on start up with Corona installed. Remove the corona folder and r21 and r23 start right up.
-
I would love to get some updates by the Corona team about Big Sur & Apple's ARM. The new macbook's M1 turn out to be very fast on Geekbench.
I am an architect and Corona/C4D is still one of the best, maybe the only option I have on a Mac. I might just not yet move to PC.

I agree on this. Personally I have a stack of mini's - for a renderfarm. Now, these new M1 mini's may actually compare (or even be faster) to the fastest Intel mini - but at half the price. That is very compelling.

Good morning everyone,
we are working on the Big Sur support and will try to get it to your hands as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Jan

Still having problems with R23 and Corona 6 Hotfix 1? I tested this on two different Macs with no immediate issues. I'd really like to update my main computer, but don't dare yet :-)

tx Corona team, I am looking forward to the update for Big Sur. I hope as well that Corona will get a native support and especially before Apple updates iMac's.
-
Same here, looking forward for Big Sur and Apple Silicone support!

Daily build for v7 has been released with the support of Big Sur. Go ahead and give it a try!
-
working for me , thanks for quick update!
-
When is final version (not beta) due?
-
There is no beta, only daily builds (beta only happens before a product ever has an actual official release). Date for final is not fixed, so keep an eye on the roadmap for current projections (when we have one :) ) - https://trello.com/b/dgI8vjDb/corona-tentative-road-map-cinema-4d
-
Thanks, so far under Big Sur it is working OK, is this daily build stable enough for production?

Hi Yurii, I suggest having a read of this. You'll get your answer in the first paragraph ;)

I have the same issue. Cinema 4D R21, R22 and R23. Nothing works.

R23.008 or R23.110?
-
R23.008... the automatic updater doesn't say anything about a R23.110...

No idea why it is not showing or if it would help.
-
Yes! Now it seems to work! R21 and R22 are still dead though...
-
I'm running Corona Renderer on Big Sur (Intel), works perfectly so far. I reinstalled Cinema to get the latest updated version, and I'm using official Corona 6 hot fix 1 from download page, no daily built or whatever.
-
I just updated to Big Sur and R23 crashes on startup. When I remove Corona from the plugins folder C4d starts normally. I'm on the latest MacBook pro, using Corona 6 Hotfix 1. Any recommendations?

Are you using R23.008 or R23.110?
You should be fine using R23.110, additionally, we've added support for Big Sur in a later daily build. At the point of V6 RC1, we were not aware of upcoming Big Sur version.
Let me know if this helped,
Jan

I'm using .110. I tried to reinstall v6 again and still crashes on startup. Then I downloaded the daily build for v7 and it works...

Is there a daily version of V6 that's newer than V6 Hotfix 1?
Or do you mean the daily versions of V7?

If I start the r23 (demo version) and, immediately after, I start the r21 everything works. After launching the r21 I can also exit from the r23. Does it happen to you too?
