1. do not post 16bit png's with alpha on the web. There is jpeg format for that.
2. i can bet, your whites are too white. Generally you don't want anything brighter than 220, 220, 220 in your scene.
3. 11h for such a simple scene at that resolution is totally unacceptable render time.
