Title: exception occuring while trying to render delegate helper
Post by: romullus on 2014-03-02, 19:35:38
Build timestamp: Mar  2 2014 16:46:58
Maxsdk version: 2013

If scene contains unhided delegate helper, error message pops out when trying to render:

"An exception occurred while rendering with 3ds Max.
This render will abort. If you render again without resolving the exception, you may experience instability.
Unknown Exception"

Sorry :]
Basically, you just need add delegate helper (create>helpers>delegate) to your scene ant hit render to get that exception message. That delegate helper is not renderable, btw.

weird, the delegate object says it is a renderable geometry object. But I can simply ignore it, if it does not contribute to rnder.

The Delegate is a special helper object used in crowd animation. It serves as an agent for motion created by a Crowd Helper Object and its behaviors. The Crowd object controls any number of delegates, whose motion can then be imparted to a biped or other object. Delegates cannot be rendered.

Autodesk... it's so typical :]
