Title: Retro Gamer - Nostalgia
Post by: mvshabeer on 2020-04-13, 21:40:25
A 90's teens gaming desk. Free time project done for some modelling and texturing practice. Lighting is based on flash photography.
Hope you like it. c&care welcome. Done with Max and Corona.

Lighting is pretty straight forward and simple.
The main source of light is standard light aligned to camera. You need one flash light per camera. Make sure direct Visibility and occlude other lights is turned off.

For secondary fill light I used an interior HDRi.

Lightmix is used to balance the flash light and fill light. (You only need to turn on the flash light for specific camera).
The fill light only just looks like this. Flash light should be the dominant one.

Awesome! Judging from the clock, you must be familiar with some post-soviet country, right?

Also, have you tried with caustics? I am sure they would add even more realism to the scene - caustics from the camera flash.

And using a little bit of this could change things a lot (e.g. on the TV case): https://www.sigerstudio.eu/sigertexmaps-thinfilm/

Thanks for the tips. I will look at the caustics and thinfilm. (Damn. I should have remembered things like these exist).
The clock was just a random model I found :D.
And thanks for Corona MultiMap which made things lot easier.

No problem, those are just some random ideas. The images are awesome anyway!
The clock is a Russian Mayak. :)
