So I'm just testing some basic white card views on a new model.
After any random number of passes - the attached happens - this was after 46 passes, I've just tried again and it did it after 15 passes. The highlighted band seems to become either reflective or transparent, I can't quite work it out.
Up until that point it renders aboslutely fine and looks perfect.
At first I thought it was the extreme shift/clipping through glass somehow becoming visible again, but I've tried hiding the glass too and it makes no difference.
I've also attached how it looks just before the artifacts appear.

Just tested without clipping and it still happens

Hey Dj, can you provide a scene sample to test it further? Thanks
-
It's uploading now via Dropbox - EMI001_21_DP_MASTER_02.max it's called.
It should open on the Camera used for the test renders

I am afraid the issue is related with one of these two scripts. Also noticed DR is active can you make sure if the issue persists with/without it. To see if it's the scripts or not.

How do you know? I use those scripts in nearly ever scene. However those walls aren't using Complex Fresnel and it happens if I turn the Quadchamfer off? So keen to know how you narrowed it down to those

Your material/render settings seem fine and correct, I've opened your scene on a "script" clean 3ds max version, so at first I thought it might have been the floor-gen, since as you can see in my previous screenshot there is an entire mesh missing (the offending one from your screenshots), after ruling out floor-gen and installing it the missing geometry is still there. That's why I suspected those two.
I will retest this by installing the other two, could be also an issue with the modifier hierarchy of the mesh, although it wouldn't explain this strange render behavior. Try closing the DR and repeat the render please report if the issue persists.
Thanks

Okay great I'll give it a go without DR.

The geometry was corrupt - when I reopened the scene it was a mess
So I remodelled the bit that was a mess and all works fine.
Thanks for looking
