Title: Black lights when using directionality
Post by: maru on 2014-02-13, 10:46:39
Build timestamp: Jan 24 2014 23:16:32
Could anyone check if it also happens in newer builds? Happens only with rectangle, disc and cylindrical lights with directionality >0,5.

This is normal, since directionality means the light is only visible in a certain range of degrees. May not be nice looking but it's not false.

So it's a feature.

Could it be faked with solid colour? Maybe? :>

What would work, but only for LightMTL, not actual lights, would be to use Rayswitch material. Plug your CoronaLightMTL with directionality into all slots except direct visibility slot, and then plug another one without directionality into direct visibility slot :)

I don't "need" this, just thought it would be a useful option. Some users will probably want it anyway. Maybe an additional "use solid colour - fake" checkbox would be useful?

I've requested this a few times myself, we need to fake things now and then.
