Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] Bug Reporting => Topic started by: Jak on 2019-07-07, 15:53:17

I am having problems saving approximately 11 Hdri files from Corona VB all at once. When saving one everything is fine, it takes approximately a couple of seconds but saving in batch just causes max to freez for up untill one hour (at that point I decided to brute force close 3dmax).
Did not have this issue earlier; I have enough RAM (48 GB), and enough hard disk space. Passes include a volumetrics pass. Resolution is ~4k on the wider side.
Does anyone have or has had similar problems?

Now it seems that I cant even save one Radiance file from the frame buffer. Ive even imported the whole scene to a new clean 3dsmax file. 3dsmax just hangs up, and is no longer responsive.
Any help would be appreciated in this regrads.
Edit: 16 bit Tiff also non responsive.

Hi,
I have two questions, 1) do you have bloom and glare enabled? If so would you be able to try to save the file without bloom and glare enabled and see if this helps.
2) Would you be able to provide me with your scene so that we can further investiagte? Instructions on how to do this are in my signiture.
Thanks,
Rowan

Disabling bloom and glare actually fixed the issue, seems I can save the output to any format and bit rate I desire.
However I have an NDA agreement signed so unfortunately sending the file would be out of the question (I trust the Corona team no doubt, but an NDA is an NDA). If I find some free time I will try to investigate myself and will get back to you with my findings.
Thank you for your time, reply and help.

Hi,
I'm glad this workaround has worked. If you'd still like to use bloom and glare I'd suggest saving your output to a cxr file then importing it to Corona Image Editor and applying bloom and glare there, then resaving the output in your desired format.
We are working on some bloom and glare optimisations, so if you experiance this with another scene which is not under NDA we'd very much like a copy so we can make sure the issue will be fixed.
Thanks,
Rowan

A small update. I am now creating an animation using that file. I have almost doubled my RAM and rendering size doubled down, and I am able to save TIFFs sequences with glare and bloom straight from the frame buffer inside max. However now I am having problems with scene parsing ATM, made another thread about it (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=25751.0)
