Title: Pictures from Corona Land #1 - Winter scene
Post by: Neb on 2019-01-30, 10:43:36
Hi there!

I would like to introduce first chapter of my new personal project. I created full CG generated images focused on strict photography approach. I used Corona for Cinema 4D render engine which produce outstanding quality and offer very handy and flexible workflow. First time during CG project I was feel free as a photographer. Apart of the photography attitude, cold winter, falling snow effect simulation was also important and quite easy to achieve in full 3d scene with motion blur, volumetric fog and a lot of detailed displacements. We can show much more than only to present real things. We can introduce sense feelings too. Nowadays the realism factor comes smooth and I believe that I will stop being divided soon. Divided to a CG and photography artist. Chapter #2 is coming…

Best regards

Really well done :- ). I always get the urge to make similar scene when I drive at misty nights and stop at gas stations. I love the atmosphere.

For main road covered by snow I used divided plane mesh with very detailed snow bitmap, displacement and normal map for fine details. For far snow terrain I used Cinema regular landscape object with small size and height and also displacement map. For small snow details like roof snow cover I made object with use metaballs painting through splines. It wasn't very complicated. Entire displacement process took 58 Giga ram during render. I think it's key for details for this scene.

it sill dont understand, can you elaborate a little.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDyD1gzoq9A (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDyD1gzoq9A) - I use metaballs feature to create snow organic shapes.

58 Gb made me sure that I achieve all possible details. A lot of ram consuming huge set of textures. I think 32 Gb ram is minimum to play with detailed things.
