Title: Texture animation
Post by: daveclive on 2018-11-13, 10:57:30
Hi guys,

is it possible to use a video (mp4/mov,etc) as a texture in corona light material?

I have a screen which is split up into sections for a stage set and need a looping animation of a swirl/swish to animate across all screens.

I have connected and deleted all screens down into 1 object and then used the poly selection to select the screen elements and applied the corona light material to the selection.
I then had to change the material projection to flat and stretch along into place.

The corona light material is just  png for now but it will be animated and converted into a video format.

screenshots attached.

is this the correct process to get the animation working in corona?

thanks

Why don't you use a png sequence instead of a video file format?

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I can use a png sequence instead.
Is the animation controllable through range time built into C4D natively?

Do you think the material projection is the correct way to map the video?

You could also use a standard c4d mat and place your vid in the luminance channel and then turn on animate preview in the editor options. Now when you scrub through the timeline you will see your vid in action.
