Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: jellyjuice on 2018-11-07, 19:48:00

Hi guys,
We have been experiencing a very strange situation!
We are working on an animation and have been working with the daily builds (RC1 to be more specific). Earlier today when I was submitting some clips to Rebus farm I noticed that all renders were coming out black with a few very bright pixels.
I contacted their support and they said they run Corona 2.0 "vanila". So I installed Corona 2.0 right from the downloads page and open my scenes and try to render. The result was the same as the render farm, black frames with bright pixels.
I noticed that the render is skipping the UHD calculation phase. It is simply not doing it!
See Render1.jpg
I have set my UDH to be still frame / calculate from scratch etc..
See Render2.jpg
I've tried all the things I thought might be possible to do:
-Reset Corona renderer settings (changing the current engine to another one and then switch back to Corona)
-Try a new empty max file and merge my scene into it
-Full convert via de CoronaConverter script
-Try to open the file on another machine
Then I have reverted back to Corona 3 RC1 and it works like a charm! works just as it was before!
Any thoughts on what I can do? I need to render this animation with Corona 2 for Rebusfarm :(
Thanks
Ana

Not heard any other reports of this - as ever, a copy of the scene would be very useful (since there are no other reports, it will most likely be very hard or even impossible for us to duplicate by creating our own scene; so getting this scene would be very handy indeed!)
-
Oh one thing though, this was created and saved with Corona 3? Then tried to be rendered using Corona 2? That may well have an impact on things for sure. The scene would be handy still.
EDIT as an aside, I'd say it's probably not a good idea to use an unreleased build, even an RC, to create a project when you plan to render on a render farm, as the chances are the farm won't support it until it becomes an official final release.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for such a quick reply. Yes, scene was created with Corona 3 RC1 and now I need to have it working on Corona 2 because I intend to send it to RebusFarm. Where can I upload the scene?

Hi Tom,
Just uploaded to the Dropbox link as the file is larger than 256mb.
Thanks

Thanks! As a note, it may not be possible to reverse engineer it to work with Corona 2. I would definitely try resaving it from the latest RC in case that makes a difference, and we'll try and take a look in case there's a bug - but even if it's a bug, it might not be possible to undo it in your scene. Definitely one of the reasons why a production scene shouldn't use a non-final build if planning on going to a farm. You might also talk to Rebus to see if they'd consider installing the Corona RC for you.
-
Thanks Tom, I will try with the current RC and see if there is any difference. I will also try to contact Rebus directly and ask them if they could install the RC version. Let me know if you find any other solutions or if there is any bug.

You mean if one would create a scene in Corona 3, then load it in Corona 2, do reset render settings, but the scene still might not work? Even if no V3 specific materials or maps were used?

i doubt rebus would mass install a non final build tbh
-
Romullus, if it's a bug, it might not be possible, would all depend on the bug.
jpjapers, exactly why using a non-final build in production if you are planning to render to a farm is not a good idea. I seem to recall some farms in the past have installed RCs but I may be remembering wrong, and I couldn't recall which farm it was if they did. Either way, definitely safer for production that will go to a farm (where Corona version is out of your control) not to use in-development stuff.

Hi Ana, we'll take a look at your scene ASAP!

Hi Ana, there doesn't seem to be a Max file present in the archive. Can you upload just the Max file? Thanks!
