Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: Passeridae on 2018-09-25, 15:08:41

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to find a way to create a big animated water surface (say, an ocean) with waves and foam. The problem is, I need it to be visible to horizon and interacting with rock cliffs in the foreground of my scene. So, it's fluid simulation, I guess. At first, I thought Phoenix FD can do that. But then I found out that Corona doesn't support foam and "infinite ground plane" which is required to create large surfaces with Phoenix, if I get it right.
So, what's the best way and/or software to achieve something like this with 3Ds Max and Corona?
Thanks.

here the idea how to make big water area https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2018/ENU/3DSMax-Simulation-Effects/files/GUID-96CA5A05-06D7-4606-8598-44E233E0135A-htm.html
foam can be rendered in corona as particles though

I would definitely split it into 2 or more parts with different level of detail. One huge plane (or circle) for the lowest quality water, that would be visible on the horizon. Then a better quality model for the parts closer to the camera. There are many simulation plugins/software that you can use, e.g. 3ds Max fluids, Phoenix, RealFlow,...
Foam is currently unsupported, so it would have to be faked somehow. Hopefully we will have it added at some point.
