Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: ivan.genov on 2018-06-20, 23:14:14

Hi all,
I'm having a problem when I try to convert vray scene to a corona one. I'm using the CoronaConverter 1.42, and renderer is set to Corona. I've already tried resetting 3ds max's settings.
Open for any ideas or suggestions :)
-
Sooooooo.... what's the problem you are running in to?
-
The error message: Material type 'missing material' is not supported. Offending material ...
In the render the object is red, as when you have unsupported material.
It happens when I import 3d trees, that are Vray scenes. However, I ran Relink Bitmap script, and there should be nothing missing. I also know that these particular objects work perfectly.
-
Hmmmm. Can you open the tree's file and try saving it as a new file, then try converting the new file?
-
I tried doing that, but it didn't help.
I don't have vray on 3ds max - could that be a problem?
-
Yes! You can't convert from Vray to Corona without Vray installed. The demo is enough, even when it's expired.
-
I also tried with any of the 3d models I have, always the same problem.
Some of them are vray scenes, but even when I just grab the object I need and export it, it doesn't work.
Very peculiar...

Yes, V-Ray needs to be installed for the converter to work, as PROH mentioned. That can be the demo (and, if I remember rightly, it can also be the demo after the trial period has expired - but V-Ray does need to be on the machine for the Converter Script to work).

Thank you all for the help. I installed vray and now everything works fine. Problem/ mystery is solved!
