Title: bump strength
Post by: indexofrefraction on 2018-04-25, 19:40:24
hi there...
i noticed corona uses % in the bump channel
... does anybody know what this means? % of what?
is it possible to translate this to cm somehow?
best, index

I guess that any try to express bump in cm (no matter what other renderers do here) is a dishonest business, because there is no actual surface deformation.

i know that there is no real deformation,
but the bump value should be implement in a way
that a bump strength of "1cm" closely looks like a displacement of 1cm.

using a % value leaves you clueless.
you just have to render 10 times until you "feel" it looks right.
good bye pbr .)

well, it seems one must do some tests on this

I'm also a bit confused about this method of using percentage over real world units - It takes much longer to find a good value.
I wonder what's the reason it's implemented this way...
