As per title.

Hi, we will need some more info:
-what do you mean by "disable shadows on an object"?
-what do you mean by "AO ma"
Can you post an example of this, or explain how you would like to use this?

Are you trying to have a model with no shading except for the ao that's visible? (see attached)

If this is what you are looking for....
1. Create  a Corona Layered Material, with a corona light material as your  base material with emit light turned off.
2. in the layer 1 material create a material with 0 albedo, then plug in your Corona AO map into your mask slot (you will have to flip the black and white positions)

I have an object and I want to disable its shadows (right click, object properties, disable shadows).
The object is still visible and is using an Ambient Occlusion map (set to internal) to drive some detail on the edges of my object.

Issue is that by disabling shadows, it also disables the AO.

Yah, I see what you mean; It looks like turning off cast shadows breaks it completely.

I'm not sure there us a way to get around this unfortunately.

I can't think of a way off the top of my head, other than rendering twice - the second time through could be with the Render Only Masks option checked (assuming you are using AO as a CTexmap render element) so it would be super fast.

I used the data channel curvature map in the end instead of AO as a workaround. Downside is I needed to cut support loops and turbosmooth.
