i use:
Build timestamp: Feb 5 2018 10:05:29
Version: B1 (core 1.7)
Cinema version: CINEMA 4D Studio R19.053 S

the same thing happen to me.... don't matter the count of passes but, in OS X c4d freeze everytime with corona.... 50 - 60 - 100 passes.. once you try to save the CXR files c4d and corona crashes....
in the WIN version everything seems to work fine....

it happened only when the mac is inactive for me.
I can render 300+ passes without crash if i move the mouse. But if the mac is in sleep mode it crash after some passes ..

no sleep mode... no screensaver active.. no energy safe mode... in some scene the crash happen after 10 or 20 passes.... or when i try to save the CXR file.... i don't understand why....

is there any way to solve this problem on OS X or we have to turn back to some RC older version??
we cannot render on OS X with the latest version.... :-(

I am using 10.10.5 & 10.13.3... with R18, almost run renders fine, facing some crashes which I do posting at forum.
Try few step... to find where its crashing... maybe helpful to render.
Its a big scene... disable/hide few objects (both red light) and try render and then few... I hope you will find that.
Try one render with orverride... see its still crashing or no, if it not... check materials.
I hope you will find the crash...!

i'm sorry but i've already done all the possible step that I could imagine... this is why i made this post... the problem seems to be related to big resolution... after some step ( 10 o r20 or 60 etc..etc.. ) corona crash... only in OS X version... on windows everything goes fine.... i'm really sad.. :-(

Hello Community
Same problem here. I worked for months with different versions of corona on about 40 different projects. There has never been any issue and I could solve almost every problem. All my renders, even the ones rendering on high resolution for about 12 or more hours turned out to be very good. No crashes for months !
I am using Cinema4D 18 and working on macOS Sierra. Corona B1 (core 1.7) timestamp Feb 2018.
_
Since my last project I am facing an unsolved problem. The image crashes variously on 2, 5, 10, 15 passes. It seems it depends also on the resolution, since it renders more passes when the resolution is smaller. I tried to set up a new scene, change computers, eliminate high poly models, eliminate light sources, etc. but no evidence. Then I tried to render the scene with an earlier build from January 2018 and October 2017. Still the same.
I am very curious about the problem, since I can no more rely on Corona at the moment. The crashes are unpredictable.
Still I hope the problem is linked to my project, not in general.
_
As said, I never had problems, even with much more complex scenes.
_
I would like to help solving the question. If necessary I can post a bug report.
For me it is important to figure out what exactly made the scene crash, to avoid that problem.
_
I do not believe it has to do with the version, since I worked on 10 other projects with the same settings.

all best !

Hi ASIMO!
We are happy that Corona has proved so useful to you even in the current Beta stage, but at the same time we are very sad about your current issues.
Is there any chance you could upload the problematic scene for us via the private uploader? ( https://corona-renderer.com/upload (https://corona-renderer.com/upload) )
If the issue always happens with that scene, we should be able to reproduce it with debugging tools attached and we would hopefully be able to fix it immediately and issue a hotfix as soon as possible!
If you for any reason wish to not share the scene with us (we would keep it private, we promise!) alternatively you can make another simple scene that causes the crashes too. Or at least, you could pinpoint the problem by erasing stuff from the original scene until you find the culprit of the issues.
Regards,
Cestmir Houska

Also, what you could do in any case, ASIMO, would be sending us the bug report .txt file!
Thank you! Hopefully we'll be able to solve the problem for you and with your help we'll make Corona even better!
-
Dear Houska
Thank you very much for your kind reply. I really appreciate all your service and passion you put into the development of Corona Render.
It is the best and most pleasant plugin I have ever worked with ! I am glad to help !

You will receive the report.txt file along with a screenshot of the crash, as well as the scene packed as a project file containing the exact setup.
As said the file crashes every time. Sometimes it reaches more or less passes. Lower resolution or eliminating geometry seems to help a bit.
All in a .zip File via your server. Please keep it confidential. Thank you.

Hopefully this will help and there is a logical way to trace down the problem to find a fix.
Even a workaround would be a relief since it makes everything usable again.
I am really curious what caused it, since the scene is nothing special compared to all other scenes I could finish successfully.

If you need some additional information just contact me.
all best and thank you for your help

Hi,
I downloaded the scene and tried to reproduce the crash but unfortunately everything works on my computer so I would like to ask everyone with this problem to download this https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_7B4-JMLMthPXfyxJewbHqGVz2QUh-n5 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_7B4-JMLMthPXfyxJewbHqGVz2QUh-n5) special testing build (don't use it for normal work it is much slower) and send me the screenshot of error message if there will be any.
Thanks
Nikola

Thank you Nicola
I installed the test build and will test it now. After installing and starting C4D the attached message appeared.
I clicked Dismiss to start the program.

During render this popped up.

Thank you for the screenshots, these problems are really strange, especially the first one. I uploaded a new testing build, please download the build again (from the same URL) and install it again and then click "Crash App" for both cases and send me the BugReport.txt for both cases.
Thank you
Nikola

Hello Nikola
I uploaded the two bugreports to your server. They are marked with _1 or _2 in the filenames. The first one is the report showing up while starting Cinema4D. The second one refers to the one showing up during the render process.

I had no issue with this scene also.

Hello beanzvision
So it rendered all passes till finish ?
Do you think it might have to do something with my MacOS system ? Which version are you working on ?
I will try to update it to the newest version and then run a new test.

I only ran 50 passes which took some time, let it denoise then saved the cxr. I'm a Windows user so I can't say whether it's OS related or not. It may even be the fact that AO is activated in the render settings but that is just speculation. Have you tried rendering without AO activated?
-
Hello beanzvision
Thank you for your help and your time. The AO option really was activated. But it does not matter. I updated my system now to the newest configuration. macOS high Sierra but without any change. The file still does not work. I got the same crashes.
Has anybody else of you tried to render it on a Mac OS System ?

Thanks

Hi ASIMO,
I sent you a private message, did you receive it?

Hi all
Unfortunately I still got issues with that problem. Also the newest build does not solve it.
During the last months it never happened again and I could finish over 20 projects. But now it appears again.
I have to stay Corona is amazingly stable most of the time and I am talking about 1 % of my renders. Still it matters.
_
For what I can say it has nothing to do with the general setup, with used textures, materials or tags. I do not even believe that the 3D Models used are causing it.
Since I built up models externally and import them with a plugin, maybe this is causing the error from time to time ?
_
Also the error seems to happen differently on different machines, so I would say it may be hardware bound ?
_
I would really appreciate your help to figure out at least what part (File / Software / Hardware / Plugin) is the origin of the problem.
So that I can try to figure out a workaround for avoiding it.

Thank you so much for your support !

Hi
Attached there is a new bug-report with the newest build from 18 09 2018 using the provided scene I sent to you.
Thank you for any help / advice.

Hi,
one reason could be the mac osx lock screen. The one you can disable in the osx security settings.
I my case my main machine (windows) crashed because one of the render clients (osx sierra) went into the lock screen.
Maybe you try to uncheck the checkbox marked im my screenshot (unfortunatly it's german).
I know this is an older topic, but maybe this helps.
Greetings,
Patzi
-
Hello HFPatzi
Thanks for the tip with the lock screen. Basically it has never been an issue but who knows. I will keep it unlocked for the next renders to see if it makes a difference. What I did anyway is to block the MacOS Sleeping Mode for the hard-drive. This really forced my C4D to stop working until I logged in again.
I speak german so I could read everything. Danke !
Greetings
