Title: irregular stones placing
Post by: filippo.previtali on 2018-01-17, 14:21:16
Hi all!
I know it's a very long shot.....but I need to find a way to 3d model something similar to the stone path shown in the attachment.
I am about to give up and start placing each slate by hand....

Any script? any idea? Thanks a lot!

Maybe Forrest Pack can help yout there.

Or u try a script like this:

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/advanced-fragmenter

and cut a simple block in pieces and scale the pices down a bit in x/y to get the gaps in between.

Rayfire should be able to do what your looking for. Their 'Bricks' modifier is pretty versatile.

CScatter can be often underestimated in tasks like this. This is just a quick example, it could be probably tweaked better.
The only issue is to cut off the stones which are out of border. This can be done after converting to mesh, or using Corona Distance map.

wow. although it is not exactly what I needed (the single pieces have to be arranged in an intelligent way to minimise the spaces between)...but it's good to see what CScatter can really do! :)

Thanks a lot....I will definitely give it a go!
