Title: Modelling query
Post by: Jpjapers on 2018-01-10, 17:19:23
I have some STL files from a manufacturer and theyre full of the bolt holes. I need to drop some polys on the model so i want to remove them. Whats the best and quickest way in max to get rid of them (see attached image)?

Thanks
Jack

If you want to remove holes, just delete everything regarding the hole itself and colapse the opening... Is that what you want?

If i collapse the opening it collapses to a single vertex that is welded together on both sides of the sheet if you get what i mean?

First of all remove all the meshes on the edge of the hole and then collapse all vertices around it, you'll have only 2 vertices left on each side, but better solution will be removing everything around the hole and then create 2 polygons on each side

delete the cylindrical faces by selection by angle (poly)
cap both circular boundaries
ctrl+click to vertex selection and remove (backspace)
done.
