Title: Is this normal Corona Distance behavior?
Post by: apjasko on 2018-01-02, 14:45:54
I was testing out an idea making traffic lines on asphalt using the Corona Distance map using the color inside influenced by a line with sweep modifier. It isn't working very well, the color inside tapers off in unusual ways. Is this normal?

Can you see what happens if you subdivide both the ground and the line geometry more?
Is the ground perfectly flat, or are some vertices moved up or down?

Sometimes the "inside" calculation may not be working as accurately as one would expect.

I don't think you are using corona distance correctly. Your material is way more complicated than it needs to be.

You don't need to use the color inside property at all. I've attached a snip image showing what im talking about and the quick scene I made.
The line widths are driven by the corona near/far values on each level, you dont need to use a sweep modifier.

Why are you both plugging a Corona Distance into a Corona Distance?

Why are you both plugging a Corona Distance into a Corona Distance?

In order to have two different coloured lines.
