Beyond first wave of SSS test threads on the forum, late to the party, here I come with (not rotten) tomatoes. These are my first steps(tests) with SSS in Corona.
I must confess, back in the days, vray gave me hard time and lots of frustration while trying to figure out the VrayFastSSS setup and the balance of things. On the other hand now the implementation of SSS in Corona is as brilliant as was the implementation and simplicity of translucency.
These are all photogrammetry generated assets, made for sale primary. The workflow is mainly based on Bertrand's guide, generated with an old Nikon D90. Nothing fancy really.
I like the result and the ease of setup. The bread slice in the last picture is also using SSS and looks much more lifelike compared to previous translucency + refraction/scattering approach.
P.S. If you've missed out my 31 days of giveaways thread in the goodies section be sure to check it out as the last addition is a photogrammetry generated Custard Apple/Cherimoya (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=18471)

Cool, the bread looks really convincing. Did you use a scatter map or something?

Oh wow, yeah - I agree with him on the bread! It looks amazingly real :o

Can only repeat what the guys before me said about the bread. That's the most believable scanned bread slice i've ever see!
-
Thank you, guys!
I use the same diffuse in SSS scatter color, for this specific bread slice it gives plausible result.
By the way this is typical scandinavian/eastern european bread - Rugbrød/Rågbröd - rye bread. Very tasty and healthy.

And some more tomatoes, I tweaked more the SSS this time to get a more believable result.

Bread looks fine, but those tometoeSSS I dont get where the SSS part is, those green tomatoes look like melons.

Maybe you can write receipt for the bread? =)
For tomatoes you may add water drops it will be looks better, like this https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1184x936q90/924/P3tn1S.jpg

Thank you,Tanakov. Those from the OP have subtle SSS, too little to make a noticeable difference even, I addressed this in my latest post above where SSS is increased. I will keep improving them in the coming iterations.
sprayer, thank you, I will consider this next time. But the main purpose is/was to see SSS in action uncovered by anything else.
