Title: Business Park in the Park
Post by: Dippndots on 2017-12-07, 14:38:00
Hey guys, I thought I’d show off this landscape view we did for a recent project.

Let us know what you think!

Very nice nearly everthing.
The trees on the right side, are loosing detail, because the area is a bit too dark.
Is that real?

Thanks Flamingo, everything is 3D, so that's just an area of low exposure.

Looks like a photo. I think the foliage materials are spot-on.

Also, the clouds and sky are probably not 3d, right? ;)

Stunning, I'm having a hard time deciding wether this is just a photo or a render :-)
What lighting did you use?

Wow guys, thanks so much.

Maru: Yes, they're the exception ;) We've dabbled with making our own HDRIs in Vue or something like it, but the render time is pretty silly unfortunately.

Wilber: It's the cloudysun 41 degrees HDRI from cgsource. A regular go-to of ours.

Looks great overall; the only problem I'm having is that the image looks a little too uniformly green. Especially with the long grasses along the river's edge. They provide a great opportunity to breakup the foreground and background and feel could be better utilized. I hope you don't mind, but I did a quick photoshop touchup that I think illustrates a little of what I'm talking about.

it looks great but I think the water needs some work. It doesn't look very realistic but everything else looks excellent

mferser: Nice, I agree, a bit more color variation in there helps, thanks.

qbic: we wrangled for a bit with the water, maybe sticking a boat or some kayakers to break up the expanse of water would've helped

I don't really agree with the critics. That's a stunning job, I had hard times trying to understand if the foreground was a picture or CGI vegetation.

All detail in shadows? Looks clipped in center shadows

The image stunning. Congratulations !
Personal opinion: If I had to add something I would create a trail of water behind the ducks .
