Title: FLUIDS SIMULATION WITH CORONA
Post by: GraceVicky on 2017-11-29, 13:36:59
Hi guys!
i am a new user and i didn't find anithing complete in the previous posts about this topic, so i apologize if i ask for something already known..

I need to do an animatic simulation of a fountain's stream and water jet  (like in the pictures) and i need to render it with corona.

which is the best compatible software to simulate fluids movement?

i tried to use phoenix and i know about the limitation concerning foam and splashes...
Do you thing other softwares, like realflow , could be a better solution?
What about the 2018 3ds max that includes the fluids simulation?

Thanks in advance!

Well, fluids come with max for "free", so definitely worth a try. I recently played around with it and I got ok results I think. But I haven´t tried anything else so I can´t compare it to the others.

thank's for your reply!
i will try it for sure... and do you know if corona can render splashes and foam with max 2018?

I would start with 3ds max 2018 Max Liquid if you already have the license for it. I tried it and with little knowledge I got this.
The liquid can be easily rendered with corona materials, the foam I do not know.

Recently asked a similar question about a water drop.
Now I'm trying it with Lucid Physics
I see it as the cheaper (and maybe simpeler, havent tried the other programs) solution for real life settings. So no flying water or so.

Haven't got something to show jet, but I will when I have.

And so far it renders with corona

foam in bifrost(liquid) can be rendered in corona as particles(planes, crest, etc, you will need to assign miltusub material ID 1 for water, ID 2 for foam)but slow for rendering, also i think it can be connected to particle mesher like frost but not sure if it's works. Maybe we should ask Ondra to implement corona surface?
Lucid is great but not stable for me.

Hi wilbertvandenbroek, how did you manage to render the liquids with corona, If i hit render it just hangs. thx

Wow that was a long time ago. I think you need to make sure you turn your simulation into a mesh or something that is cached.
