Title: Problem with DR both on Corona DR & Backburner
Post by: Majeranek on 2017-11-19, 17:56:02
Hi guys,

From some time I'm getting some problems with distributed/network rendering on Corona.
On both machines I'm using the same versions of 3ds max 2017.2 and Corona 1.7. So what happening.

Corona DR:
When I'm using Corona DR at the beginning everything is going well. Scene is being send, loaded, parsed etc. and the rendering is starting. After few minutes of rendering I'm getting an error: "3ds Max application has stopped working" and everything shut downs. This happens on every scene. I tried heavy scenes with a lot of displacement, scatter etc. and some simple with just Sphere and HDRI loaded. All the same.
LOGS:
a) Corona Log doesn't give any error. Last line is like: "2017-11-19 12:59:14  Rendering pass 4"
b) Max Log doesn't give any error either. Last line: "2017/11/19 12:59:11 INF: [12644] [12648] CORONA : Rendering pass 3"
c) DR Log. Here everything also looks normal with one exception. Last line: "2017-11-19 12:59:44   Closing loopback manager" - but it came out after I closed an error

Backburner:
When I'm using Backburner it's basicly the same as above. Everything is going fine for around 5-10 minutes and then I get application error.
LOGS:
a) Backburner Server
    INF Application is down
    INF Adapter returned unexpected code - 2 for "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2017\maxadapter.adp.exe" "-o" "ShutDown" "-l" "Info"
    ERR Unknown Error

I've searched through internet for solution I get nothing :/ There was something about changing user in Services.msc, but I don't have any Backburner or DR service there.

Maybe someone had similar problem and have solution?

Looks like 3ds Max is crashing after some time. You should be able to get a minidump when "application stopped working" error is visible. Here is how to do it: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006
Once you have the minidump (you can trigger the crash a few times and collect a few minidumps), you can send it to us https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new

Other than that, I can only think of reinstalling 3ds Max on the node.

The problem is that this kind of error doesn't give minidump...

I tried to reinstall 3ds max on the node and it didn't help :/

You can get a minidump even if the Autodesk error reporting isn't displayed.

also a problem is that the "render elements" are not saved properly on random machines

Please provide us with at least one minidump: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006

also a problem is that the "render elements" are not saved properly on random machines
Can you explain what exactly is happening?
