Title: Corona Studio Tools : Free kit!
Post by: Josef on 2017-11-18, 00:55:32

Hi!

Here is a small kit i made to ease the lighting with corona render, it's available now for free!

Some features :
• Softbox Area light, for better reflections and easy controls
• Combined and adjusted sun and sky rig,
• HDRI loader with some viewport feedback
• 15 pre lit Studio Setups to get you going
• Entirely built around Interactive Render

New: Pro edition https://www.josefbsharah.net/studio-tools-pro/ (https://www.josefbsharah.net/studio-tools-pro/)

NOTE : you need to resend the HDRI by enabling and disabling it, to counter a current bug in corona render.

Get it on Gumroad https://gumroad.com/josefbsharah (https://gumroad.com/josefbsharah)

any feedback is welcome here.

Few things I have noticed here and would give some marks:

-Some stage materials have no reflection at all, everything should have reflection, even the slightest value, so I would put something like 0.2 as default.
-It would be nice to have IR option force path tracing as default, so ir updates would be quicker without losing much.

Thanks once again :)

Thanks for the feedback!,
I suppose both of these options can be easily defined by the user, the preset scenes are only a base to show an efficient use of light distribution :)

Yep, sure, but I thought it would be handy to get these settings straght out of a box :)

Josef,

This is so cool. I loved using your VRay Studio Tools product and had used that as a basis for making a Corona version. But now I have this too.
Thanks for being so generous.

Hey Josef,
thanks for sharing your great corona studio tools kit.
In your kit are some paths linking to octane (See the attached Screenshots)

https://s2.imagebanana.com/file/171211/kFBWP8Iv.png

It would be great if you can fix this in a further version.
Anyways - great Plugin as always :)

Greetings from germany!
Thomas

Thanks for the heads up, you can swap the path with the corona library path instead!
i must have not noticed this one since i happen to have the octane library installed (which is also free btw!)

Hi,

Unfortunately i don't have Max at the moment, but perhaps someone with 3ds max experience can put together something
similar based on this using maxscript?

Thanks for support guys!
I'm thinking of releasing a more advanced pack that comes with additional setups, HDR light textures and hdr environments

this pack will always remain free. The expanded one would come with the additional stuff but with a price tag

let me know what you think

I would like a studio set up that I can put objects in and render them with a pure white background, but have reflections and an AO shadow on the floor. I'd like to be able to adjust the amount and blurriness of the reflection, and have a controllable fade to white as it gets further from the object.

I always have to do most of this in post, it would be great to have it work straight out of the camera.

I've come up with 2 setups that you might like for this, only tricky bit is the reflections as it's a fully white environment :)

Also a bit of progress, the pack is essentially finished, just making final adjustments a video guide,i'm still open to any suggestions!

lovely! does it work with white?

your right - reflections on pure white are difficult, hopefully you can figure out a solution!

It does!, i added an environment color control so you can tweak it (change to white) and see how it impacts the reflections, by default its going to be dark.

sure thing, here is the white edition, tone mapping can effect the overall white (clip it in other words) but its 100% white
all around.

I know this is a corona forum, but can you do a similar preset for c4d Octane?

sure why not, but it would have to be in a pro edition for octane as well as i don't intend to expand on the free kits other than bug fixes
No plans for a pro edition for octane render at the moment but it can happen in the future.

If you mean the one for V-Ray then yes there is an update for that (for old users), but for that only.

The new Corona Pro edition just came out so no for that.

Hi. A little late to this party, but I had grabbed your free Studio Tools to learn from. Very nice looking, but the Object Manager and the Material window are completely blank! Is this a demo limitation? If it is, then it's pretty useless for learning. I've tried quitting and restarting r19 on Mac. Copied your objects and pasted into a new scene. Same thing. Renders beautifully.

Am I missing something here?

Hi

It’s not a limitation, Studio Tools has issues running on some Mac OS systems
Primarily because it’s built in windows, i’m Working on it (everything has to be rebuilt in Mac OS C4D)

Yes actually, wait until a tested build is released for Mac, and then maybe get the Pro edition, I will make an announcement here when it’s ready.
