Title: Image on top of foil... How do I do it?!
Post by: johnnyswedish on 2017-11-16, 15:02:27
Hi Forum Gang!

I am currently working on some cigarette packaging and need to achieve the look of the box graphics being printed ontop of matt foil. Basically the artwork will look metallic. I have used the Layer shader with a matt gold base and can achieve to mask out areas where there is no image and gold shows through but I can't seem to get them to mix. Any help will be much appreciated :-) John

Could you post a real life image of something similar?
I guess it would be something possible to do with a few layers of the layered mtl.

Hey !

Play with the layered mask to mix the strength of gold over the mate blue.

Is it something like that ?

I'd try placing the color map of the image in the reflection color slot of a metallic (high fresnel, low glossiness) material.

...and dont forget to get mask of that... you can fix some highlight easily in photoshop later.
I am just finished a cigarette pack campaign.
