Title: The Magic Of Caustics
Post by: KC149 on 2017-11-14, 16:04:41
Hi guys,
Today I've been working on making some of my basic materials a bit more detailed, I've noticed that when i turn caustics on a glass material the object completely occludes the light as if it were non transparent. Ive attached a before and after of ythe direct lighting pass but the same thing happens in all the passes where you'd expect (/not expect) to see it. Any Ideas Guys?

All the best

I guess because light transport is then being done by a different component of the light path, hence it will be visible in a different pass, not direct anymore.

Are the caustics visible in the beauty pass?
They might be cut off by max sample intensity (in performance tab). In such case you can try increasing it to ~100 (just for a test!), or setting it to 0 to disable it completely.

Hey guys, thanks for the help.  Setting the Max Sample Intensity to 100 did the trick, I was using this material on windows and glass doors that are across the room so ill probably just leave it off in this instance but thanks anyway at least i now know how to fix it.
