Title: Separate gallery for works done in Corona for C4D
Post by: zbieraj on 2017-09-29, 11:11:48
Hi,

I was wondering if there could be a separate section in the gallery for works from different Coronas (3ds Max and C4D). Since it might mislead some people who want to get one of most realistic effects from 3ds Max which might never look so realistic when done in C4D.

What do you think about it?

Why would anything look less realistic in C4D? The render engine core is the same, so the results are the same, only difference is in the modeling UI and toolset etc :) There are already quite a few C4D renders in the gallery, and they are no less realistic than Max.

So if you import a scene originally made in 3ds Max into C4D, it will render differently? :)

People usually mention which version of Corona they used and which host application.
And if they don't, you can always ask.

Yes and we also need a PC vs. Mac Section.
PC effects are also more realistic!

You can't compare them to what you can achieve on a Texas Instruments pocket calculator! I am hoping for a port and a seperate section!

I don't know what this ominous "calculator" is, but I would support a port for the slide-rule.
Texas Instruments... so it's like a guitar?

Only if it also gets its own gallery section!

To be honest I personally see reason why we could separate C4D / 3ds Max renders in the gallery. Most stuff is doable in both apps but obviously there is stuff still missing from the C4D plugin - something semi trivial as the way the AO shader works for example (inside, outside options for example) or something more profound like the IPR.

Why I don't think its necessary to split them is because eventually these things will be ironed out and the C4D plugin will be pretty much the same as the 3ds Max one. Obviously one app is better at "something" than the other and vice versa but as long as everything works I personally think it doesn't matter.

Basically the closer we get to a full 1.0 release the less it will matter I guess :)

We'll think about adding a tag in the Gallery - not a separate Gallery, just a tag for "software used" for those who want to isolate images only made with that software, so they can be satisfied that the same level of realism and stellar results is possible whichever you use. If that does get implemented at some point in time, then we'll let you know it's live!
