Resume - continue refining native corona file
This feature would be awesome in production environment.
Corona should have a native file (coronaimage). This format should be available in save and autosave. If something goes wrong (max crash or some hardware fault), we would have an autosave in native corona format that we can continue refining (render) upon loading.
Or for instance if we have to stop render for some reason, we can resume it later .
I think this is more useful than a pause button
Thanks

eh, this is already implemented, you can resume render from autosaved exrs (via the buttons in main render dlg)
-
Ah I ignored that little box completely. Awesome
Many thanks.

Hello,
So, i've enabled autosave and i've located the exr in the appdata folder. How do I now resume this render? I've been reading through the forum but I can't seem to find any information. Has anyone done a tutorial or some screenshots for this?
Cheers!

I dont think it's possible with A5, you should wait till A6 comes out.
-
ah ok, i'm looking forward to that option

Is there a specific workflow to do this with animation on a farm ?
Might be handy to have like a "draft render" button that overrides rendersettings to a low x-amount with the additional exr data to resume embedded.
That way you could have a quick draft for compositing and resume later.
-
Or maybe expose the "Resume from Dump" option via maxscript?
That way a script could be run at the start of each frame, locating the proper EXR and resuming.
This could be an amazing feature to speed up turnarounds, showing the client the rough comped work and just resuming approved shots.

it is exposed, see showinterfaces CoronaRenderer.CoronaFp
-
Oh cool, I must have missed it.
I'm assuming it supports the frame number when rendering animations?
Cheers!
-
AFAIK it renders current frame. Maybe there is a command to change actual displayed time in 3dsmax?

Once I get some time this week I'll look into it and report back.
It would be awesome to get this working, massive timesaver for animations. :)
