Title: Ain Soph - short film
Post by: Ceyog on 2013-09-24, 11:38:47
Hey guys,

here is my last film project, that was the opportunity to use Corona renderer in a big project and work with
this engine has never been so much fun!

Hope you'll like it and thanks for watching!

I asked a couple of months ago guys on russian corona forums, about using corona for space renderings. They did not understand my question ))))). The problem of corona is that it uses "air" light model. In vacuum, light has no soft shadows, it has to have more contrast, but now corona is not able to deliver desired result )))) Your picture proves that space rendered by it, looks like AIR )))

nice work, a dark and hellish story telling, though the character animation could have been better.

Jetboy : Yes indeed, I try reduce too the "soft" shadow but the only solution I've found is render sequence with and without Globale illumination and to do a mix in post prod.
The probleme was I can't do this for my all sequences because of deadline...

Yagi : Thx! I agree with you for the animation of character, that was the part of work I liked least because it was the first time I animated a character =/ and in
future projects, I think I 'll use motion capture! =)

So basically it was a story of an astronaut who went out of his apartment on the space station, jumped into a mandelbulb and found himself in satan's shrine located on the moon near an abandoned church?

Still better than Prometheus!

But seriously, it's always good to see work with some abstract-artistic quality instead of interior renders. :) Good work, I can imagine how much work you had to put into it!

It looks pretty great :) Animation could use some more work, but atmosphere of the story works really good, as well as the story itself. I saw some strong noise from time to time. Hopefully, in future, Keymaster will manage to optimize Corona to be even less noisy for animations :)

actually, until you start using participating media, that no renderer today can fully manage, the standard rendering equation formulation assumes vacuum in your scene. So you can render space much more correctly than air in Corona, vray, and all other renderers. All your shadows and have to be done by using sharp light sources, it has nothing to do with the algorithms in question.

Thx for your comments!

In fact after his wake up, the astronaut discovers that the station's crew has desappear. He thinks it has a link with the portal who come from planet (like the moon)
under the station (I used Dead space as reference). So he decides to go through the portal...

On the planet, the cross is a beacon, a landmark for the abandoned shrine. I wanted link Religion with extraterrestrial life, a higher species who knows
lot of things about the universe's origine. That's why I named the film "Ain Soph", It means in hebrew "infinity" , "without end, without limit", that's something like God but it's not personified.

And to the end, The dead E.T is a weapon, a warning to warn off foreigners against the ultimate truth who can be dangerous for the little and young species like Humans...

However I wanted give to my story a part of mystery to allow people to interpret in their own way, it's fun to ear other versions! =)

I hope my explanations are clear, my english is not really good. ^^

Thanks for your answer ) But anyway, this space pic looks strange.
