Is that something I did? But what? I didn’t install anything new lately.
I only plucked out some trees and streetlights and cleaned some diffuses maps :(
On friday morning channels were saved correctly, but today turned as total waste of overnight render (((
Only some masking channels are present - others are seems to be lost in editor?
However file size suggest that information are here with BEAUTY, denoising and bloom and all.
I tried setting up new clean file (dummy test «sphere and sun» render were saved ok) and merge in relevant parts
and xref scenes again, and set up channels and masking, even added shading beauty, but got same problem with invisible/missing channels.
Is it possible to recover info from auto saved cxr file?
-
In case it helps in the meantime, the info would be recoverable in some form by renaming the cxr to exr, which will allow it to be opened in Photoshop etc. On loading it there (through EXR-IO in my case) the RGBA channel is visible and usable.

Hi, I am sorry, I have overlooked this thread.
It is a bug and needs to be fixed. Thank you for reporting it.
The fix most probably won't get to 1.7. As a workaround do not name your render elements as "A", "R", "G", or "B". These names internally conflict with the beauty element.
-
Aha, and that leads to what might be a way of getting back that overnight render - rename to EXR, open in Photoshop, rename the layers, save to EXR, rename to .CXR, open in CIE. Worked here on the test example you gave (again, using EXR-IO, not the native PS EXR open and save, not sure how that would do :) )
-
Thank you:)
Heh I actually tried Photoshop but didn't think to rename to EXR, silly me.
Will rename channels on Monday, see how it works.
-
Let me know how it works for you! Doesn't take away from this being a bug and we'll get it fixed as noted, but may provide a way of avoiding redoing that overnight render in the meantime.
-
Put new names for channels and got proper CXR auto saved. Many thanks for your help.
-
Great! So this is a workaround. The issue will be fixed in 1.8 (early dailies).
-
Fixed. Render elements named "A", "R", "G", or "B" will be now automatically renamed when saving to CXR since these names are reserved. The change will be in next Corona 2 daily.
