hi all!
I'm new to Corona so pls forgive my obvious noobness. I've just installed it for max 2012 and tried to render a cube, just a basic shape with no txtures or materials, and the rendering time is infinite. to be exact, if I tap F9 to render i got a black screen with no render segmentation, nothing shows except the bottom line info about the multiple passes which are strangely high, like if I leave it to render for one minute ( on a simple single cube..6 polys ) it shows something like 3,250 passes, screen is continuously black and I can't see anything ( yes i have switched it to corona renderer, I wouldn't be able to tell the passes count and the big smiley with corona tag next to it ) :( can someone pls help out, this renderer seems like a awesome thing, i'd like to try it.
thx bunch :)

Get something that has the similar shape of box that you have created in your scene, any thing that is a box shaped. Then find a room in your house completely without windows, get inside, do not turn on the light, and look at the box. I am sure it will look exactly like on the render you made. See how photoreal corona is? :)
(PS: Corona does not render any kind of default lights)

Hehhehe, Oh, so I do need lights in the scene, I gathered that it would automatically use the default max light intensity, ehhe, this is so silly, thankyou, I'll try this :) LOL, i feel like a hardcore noob right now :(

yap! I am a certified noob, heh. Thankyou for ur help! I see the scene now, and I'e used a Corona light for this, but I was wondering, how can I reduce the render time to a more workable factor.like, I've tapped f9 and it's still rendering a simple plane and a cube, now with lights but, this is like three or four min of the process, and it doesn't look like it's gonna finish soon ? :(

Progressive rendering renders infinitely until you limit it. You can limit it either by limiting time, or number of passes.
Both can be found in progressive rendering tab of render settings.
If you launch render, you will see a bar at bottom reporting you both time and amount of passes.
Look how much time it takes for your image to get clean. In case of sphere on a plane it should be about two seconds, and then use either amount of passes or time limit to limit the rendering.
Most common workflow is simply to stop rendering manually whenever you think your image is already clean enough...
And only when you render final images, set either time or pass limit depending on if you need to reach certain quality, or need rendering to finish in certain time.

I've never ever used default 3dsmax lights, and I always hated disabling them, so I made it that they won't parse in Corona ;). Regarding rendertime, post screenshot of your vfb in slow scene with the stats toolbar visible (click stats button in the vfb)

many thx Rawalanche :)
I do get it now, well, this part about the infinite time :) I'll have to play with some values in the render settings to get it working for my scene, but I'm loving these results, it's a really fast renderer, awesome it's free :) thankyou so much, I can test my scene with it now, finally :)
Good to know Keymaster, I'll keep that in mind next time.
I'm sending you the stats vfb in attach

this scene is finished in 11 seconds, can you printscreen the simple one where you said you have to wait for 4 minutes? Or is it just that you did not know that the default behavior is that you have to cancel the render by yourself?
-
yap, it's true, I didn't know that at the time, thx to Raw, I do now :) I'm trying to render my character with txtures at the moment, so I'll have to see how much time does it take to get a decent result so that I can adjust the time and pass number in the settings :)

I got the same issue with max 2011 64 bit and Corona A5, even when i add light to scene i still see black window on rendering.

There's exposure compensation spinner in render setup for you. Try to play with it ;]
