Title: Ray sofa
Post by: eduard.caliman on 2013-09-16, 11:11:31
Hi guys,
this is a scene I've put together to showcase the Ray sofa designed by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia that I modeled last week. The sofa is not final yet, will revise some pillows very soon. Let me know what you think of it.

Cheers !

nice work! i like the chandelier but the curtain material or whatever shader you were trying to create didn't come out correctly. i also disagree with the interpretation of your self illuminated lamp bulb and try to keep the render times lower- your pc specs is capable of delivering it in 4hrs max

Hy there Yagi, thanks for your reply. I agree on the shaders. The render looked very good after 2 hours but I wanted to leave it for the night.

Shiny curtains look bad and there is something totally wrong with planks on the floor in the centre. If you fix this and remodel pillows it's going to be perfect. :)

I've updated the thread with a newer post-produced version.

better and much improved curtain material but i guess the UVW mapping of wooden planks could be better. the distinct line in the middle is a bit weird

Yes, I completely agree on the wood planks. Will redo that first thing yagi.

Hi guys, fixed a couple of things and reposted.
Thank you all for your comments.
ivaylovelkow I've used 2 ies lights and some sphere lights for the lamp and chandelier. The settings were default ones, PT (16 path tracing samples, max.sample intensity 20)+HD (default).

Hi there yagi, I'm glad you like it. Well to be honest it wasn't final when I posted it, I knew I had to redo the floor and some other things so I should've posted it in the WIP section but just couldn't wait to post it xD

Hello eduard,

Already praised this image on facebook (Teófilo Raposo here :), I really like it, very aesthetic...

The curtains are the only object that I would try to improve (maybe it just need more glossiness + fallof map to give that satin look).

But nevertheless, great work !
