Hi All
I'm getting some jagged edges in my renders (newbie here) and think I need Antialising. Is this available in Corona or do I need to do somethings differently? At the moment I am using the default render settings.
Thanks
-
hi, could you post a picture of what seems to be wrong?
-
Hi
it's just a very simple scene(for now). This issue is where the sun light hits the front of the mantelpiece base.
Thanks
-
...that's odd, the uploaded image doesn't appear to have the issue as much as the one I have on my PC? Maybe it's a resolution issue?
-
yeah, It's not so visible on the image here. I'm pretty new to corona myself, but the antialiasing issues you might be experiencing there are most definitely due to overbright pixels. You could try and clamp max intensity... there was a setting for that. Also, letting it render for a longer time should add more AA samples.
If all else fails, you could try to mask the jagged edges by adding bloom to you render, that's available either corona render settings, or you could do it during post-process.

It's obvious on the ceiling lamp ;)
Check @ Helpdesk:
1. I can see jagged edges in my rendering! (https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000515615-i-can-see-jagged-edges-in-my-rendering-)
2. What is highlight clamping? (https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000006462)

Thanks Pixelated and Burnin for the responses and advice.
Funnily enough I hadn't noticed it on the ceiling lamp even though, as you say, it's obvious.
Highlight clamping? Is it the same as highlight compression?
(edited) Any chance of being able to see the tutorial vid in FULL SCREEN, as it is too small on my PC to see what is going on.
Cheers

If you right click the video you can get the url and watch it on youtube/fullscreen
Clamping is called Max Sample Intensity in the Corona Render Settings.
Also filtering may help
-
(in 3dsmax ui)
VFB > Highlight compression
Performance > Max Sample Intensity
System > Highlight clamping
Are 3 different things. :)
Ideas to get rid of jagged edges:
-Reduce the Exposure.
-Increase the Highlight compression.
-Increase Filmic highlights.
-Use Blurring in Corona VFB.
-Use Bloom and Glare
-Use Highlight clamping.
-Render the image at a higher resolution and then scale it down.
Also lowering GIvsAA balance can help render an image with better antialiasing, but lower GI quality in the same render time.

Maru, thanks. That's really helpful - I will get practicing!
