Title: Light mix and Xref
Post by: CiroC on 2017-03-29, 11:52:34
Hi guys,

Does Light mix works with xref?

Basically, I have a couple of scenes xref inside a master scene. Using the Light Select, I select the lights inside those Xrefs. Everything is fine, until I save the masters scene and open it again. When I do that all my LightSelect passes show the info that the lights were deleted.

Moving this to bug reporting board.

I don't know if it's a bug or not. I just moved it to place where it surely won't go unnoticed by devs.

Thanks romullus. I had other members from my team complaining about the same issue. And as we use a lot of Xref is quite an issue and extra work for us.

FIxed lightmix not working for xreffed sun. Removed option to lightmix lights from xreffed scenes as those cannot be saved into the scene due to limitations of 3dsmax

Thanks Ondra. What a shame that we can't use lights from Xref. Do you think a script save the initial selections and reapply every time we open a scene?

you could do that, but it is pain. I would recommend not xreffing entire scenes though...

This can easily be claimed by someone using scenes which usually consist of 1 max teapot ;]

Good Luck

ok, then I suggest reporting this bug to Autodesk and waiting for their fix, it should be easily fixable ;)

That works fine for interior renders, but when you are working with urban environments that isn't solution. I am going to test Xref Objects to see if the problem persists.

If you use Xref Objects it works without problems.
