Title: [Video] My last school project
Post by: Berjoyce on 2013-09-07, 12:54:29
Hello ! I just finished my final school project, now I'll have to make my demoreel and look for a job...

Here it is, rendered with Corona, the deadline is for september the 23rd, so I'm happy to already have finished it :)

Not a valid vimeo URL

There is still some little problems that I could have fix, but I was afraid to not finish in time...

(btw, my video seems a bit choppy on Vimeo, don't know why, sorry about that...)

Great! Although the realism is not the best (probably the lighting/postproduction could be improved), i really love the idea and story. Too bad vimeo is making the camera movement a visual equivalent of a dubstep song.

Thanks ! :)
Yeah, I sent a mail to Vimeo to know if they could help about that, hope I'll have an answer soon

If you're using Google Chrome, you can switch to html5 player so it will be less choppy !

Hello P26

What kind of extension and aspect ratio accepts Vimeo to upload videos?

Hello rafpug :)

Pretty much everything as far as I know, but it is highly recommanded to use h264 codec in Quicktime format :)
My framerate is usually at 25 fps so I don't know if there is issues with any other framerate, but I guess that 24 or 30 fps and others standard settings work just fine. About the aspect ratio, I only uploaded HD and full HD (1280x720 and 1920x1080),  so 16/9 format is ok, you have to subsribe a vimeo plus account if you want the 1080p to work correctly though. If you use another aspect, I can't affirm you it will work as I never tested it... But I assume it will considering Vimeo is a very good platform for professional contents :)

And it is important to know that if you only have a classic vimeo account, you can only upload 500 MB daily !

If you want more informations about this, just read this page and I think you'll have your answer:
https://vimeo.com/help/compression

PS: Apologies if my english is bad...

Good morning P26

Everything depends on the parameters of converting your video before uploading it on Vimeo!

The original video size in Mb corresponds to what?

After converting what is the weight?

The video is pretty interesting as a story but you could have used some heavy dark post processing to make it more psychedelic. It looks a bit like an in-game footage. :)
Was there any topic given, or just an animation project of your choice?

Good morning,
well I rendered 2410 images in .tif 16 bits, more the zdepth pass and some masks, the total size of all the images is 14.2 GB, then I compiled them in After Effects, in H.264, with audio at 41khZ in AAC codec, didn't touched any other setting, and the final video file is 647 MB, I hope this is what you wanted to know... :p And the resolution is 1280x720

It was all of my choice ! What would you suggest about the post processing ? Any references ? I'm currently uploading the source video file on Mega so you can download it, if you want to test something, feel free to do it :)

Hello P26

I checked the original file.
It 'a flicker of movement in the scene of the cam

This affects the final result for the compression in which is accentuated by the flickering stream,

for verification I created two types of compressed files with two different software

1 compressed HD264/MPEG-4 AVC HD profile optimized for Vimeo size 144MB (already tried on youtube - flicker present)

2 compressed with Quicktime size 244Mb (between 30min. Stream is on yotube for verification)

in the evening I'll try to do one thing:
increase from 25fps to 29.97fps for verification

PS: the movement of the cam was done with 3dstudio?

Greats

Hello again, and wow, thank you so much for your implication it's very nice of you :)
Yes, the cam movement was done with 3ds Max, you're right about the little flickering thing, I don't know from where it comes...

Hello P26,

The comparison was made, flicker remains.
you should double check the progress of the cam 3dstudio with its key frames according to the movement/rotation

Track View - Curve Editor includes (x, y, z) object and camera!

you check on your pc

increasing from 25 to 29.95 fps flicker disappears!

Here are the two curves, the first for the Camera target, and the second for the Camera itself, with the trackbar below, don't know what is wrong with this...

Wow thanks !! I'm gonna test it right now, what software are you using for converting to 29.95 fps ? :)
Edit: Forget my question, it's Quicktime of course, I'll tell you if it works keep in touch !

Hello P26

With the change of fps, you cancel the click of the cam and a little flicker.

100% correction would be performed on the cam to the artifacts of the whole scene.

Yeah I should have thought to use the beziers to make it smoother... Now it's too late to re-render it :/
Edit: Well, it's still a bit choppy on vimeo, even after replacing the video by the 29.97 fps one, will try with youtube, but maybe it's my flash player that bugs ?
